Tuesday January 28 General Meeting
Our speakers this month are from Firewall Security Solutions, Inc. - the developers of the BizGuardian VPN Firewall. BizGuardian is a downloadable product which turns any pentium PC into a browser managed Firewall appliance. The presentation will address the origin, design and feature-set as well as going under the hood for a tour of components like the hardend FreeBSD kernel, Intrusion Detection, IPSec VPN, PPTP Server, Web Caching and content filtering. Steve Drew has been in the IT industry for over 22 years consulting on many operating systems. He has 17 years experience with many flavours of Unix and was the lead developer of the BizGuardian firewall. Michael Zaleski has been involved in the IT industry for 15 years in a variety of roles and working with a broad range of technologies. Michael's experiences have ranged from editing textbooks; working with and supporting GIS systems and document management systems; evangelizing technologies from Digital Equipment; to developing Compaq's Storage Business in Southern Alberta. Michael has recently joined the BizGuardian team to help secure its place in the marketplace. | ||||||||||||||

Eng., VP, Business Development of CUUG Gold sponsorTOPIC : Securing Wireless Communications NE2 is a Calgary based data security firm specializing in a wholly new aproach to the technology of encrypting and protecting data. Mike Neudoerffer will provide us with a general overview of NE2 digital security technology. Mike will cover NE2 key generation, the NE2 concepts of "Very Strong Secrecy"../../"Tunable Secrecy," and NE2:dot11, the NE2 solution for securing wireless LANs. Following the presentation there will be a practical demonstration of NE2:dot11 as well as a question and answer period. Mike graduated from the University of Waterloo in Electrical Engineering in 1988. The first part of his career was spent as project manager, team leader and programmer primarily in the factory automation sector of the automotive industry in Ontario.
