Dinner on a Dark Night

by Bob Dewar, Jeff Dewar, Alan Dewar, David Dewar and Mary Lou Dewar

On a dark night it was very cold in the valley. However, Fred felt warm inside. He had just eaten a hot bowl of chili (yummy). In fact, he ate so much that he got sick. Then along came his big sister. She got very angry at Fred.

"YOU ATE ALL THE JALAPENO PEPPERS?! I'M GONNA KILL YOU!" Man, did she try.

However, her actions turned out to be unnecessary, as Fred had already ingested (as he found out later) a lethal dose of jalapenos. It was shortly after his death that he next saw his sister, who explained the situation to him.

"It turns out a lethal dosage of jalapeno peppers is 42 kilograms," she informed him.
"How much did I eat?" Fred asked.
"411/2 kilograms."
"Darmn! So close!"
"You should have gone for 42 grams, and what kind of word is darmn!"

"It's from my secret language, which I use only in emergencies. And this is an emergency. Since it's obvious that you'll survive, Fred, I'll leave you with this thought...."
